One of the main reasons why people fail in business is the lack of focus. If you start or are tempted to start with a lot of businesses all at the same time, it will very difficult for you to succeed in all of them instantaneously.
You will end up scattered, unfocused and of course unsuccessful. It’s hard enough to be successful in one field and there you are doing five or ten things at once! Let’s look at it this way: Say you’re juggling one ball. There’s a good chance you’re not going to drop that. If you’re juggling two, that should be a little harder. Three, a lot of people can’t do it. What about five? How many do you think can do that? Almost no one, right?
This is exactly what a lot of people are doing on a daily basis in their business. Start by focusing on one single area first. Be successful at it then, and only then, move on to the next one. Because when you are not focused enough, you are everywhere doing everything all at once!
In fact people are trying to do many things at a time in business because they think it is the right way to do it. They are setting up multiple streams of income. So they feel obligated to do more than one thing at a time thinking it will bring them more money. Having multiple streams of income is a great idea and everybody should seriously consider having many sources of income. The trick is to do first thing first, one thing at a time, and once you have mastered that one thing, move onto the next. This is how you create multiple streams of income. Trying to do it all at once is not the right way to do it.
You need to choose one area, one idea, to focus on. Pick up something you are really passionate about and find a niche in that area. Find your market first. If nobody’s doing it, forget it. If you are, on the other hand, admiring somebody else’s success, then this is great news for you. All you have to do at the beginning at least is model them. Do what they are doing.
Because you are now doing something groundbreaking which you know has a high demand. The first step in starting a successful business is to find one high demand vehicle in a niche and learn how to be as effective as you can in marketing your business.
Successful people are doing just one thing and they are doing it as well as they can.

You can go to a flea market, or to a home show and look for a product where people are lining up. Once you find the hottest product in that area, go and approach the one selling it and offer to sell it to another location yourself.
Do one thing that you love and that works. Choose one. Don’t be afraid. Try it out for a month or two. If it’s not working, try another thing. Persistence is probably the number one key to success.
