Josy Laza Gallagher has more than 25 years of experience as an international consultant and coach, focused on team dynamics, executive leadership, global inclusion and cross cultural competencies. Her passion is developing the full potential of leaders, enabling them to make a positive impact in their businesses and communities

Josy has a proven capability in leading culturally diverse teams and operating in global organizations, as well as in delivering training and organizational development programs that focus on respect in the workplace and cultural competency. Josy is fluent in English, Spanish, and French and has traveled extensively, living/working in over 20 countries.

She participated on a Cross-Cultural Competencies in Healthcare panel at the World Diversity Leadership Summit in Vienna, Austria, presented on the future of the workplace, workforce and marketplace at the Human Capital Forum in Santiago, Chile, and at the Women’s Conference, Habana, Cuba. Josy has delivered webinars for different clients on Bullying in the Workplace, Cross Cultural Communications in the Hispanic/Latino Community, Marketing to the Latino Community and most recently, Doing Business in Cuba. She recently facilitated post-election a series of dialogues across differences.

Her areas of specialty include cultural competency, unconscious bias & creating an inclusive culture, gender communication, generational diversity, mentoring programs, women personal and leadership development, global virtual teams, harassment and bullying prevention and building multicultural women’s alliances. Josy served as a diversity officer on loan for a major global law firm and a major pharmaceutical organization, managing their organizational assessment project and supporting the implementation of their diversity and inclusion strategy. Josy designed and facilitated a workshop, Hispanic/Latino Leadership Model, for JP Morgan Chase during Hispanic Heritage Month in 2015 and the Developing Women Leaders at the United Nations workshop in November, 2016.

Josy is an executive coach for the Ascent Multicultural Women Leadership Program and for Dr. Ella Bell’s leadership course, Tuck Business School, at Dartmouth University. In her role as a coach, Josy has a passion for seeing everyone perform at his or her full potential. She is currently coaching women partners at a global law firm. She is a Tuck lecturer with the 2016 Cuba Global Insight Expedition and led the Tuck graduate students on their trip to Cuba. She has been a coach and facilitator at People of Color NAIS Annual Conferences, working with the Latino teachers and students. Oxfam contracted Josy to coach a manager and his staff in Cuba and discuss respect in the workplace & self-esteem issues. Josy will be the moderator during the Peer-to-Peer Coaching session at the Working Mother Multicultural Women’s Conference in New York, July 2017.

Josy received her Master degree in French and Spanish literature from the City University of New York, a Bachelor of Arts a New York Teacher Certification from Marymount Manhattan College and a French Certificate from L’Institut Catholique, Paris, France. She is certified in the Myers Briggs Instrument, Rummler Brache-Work Process Analysis, Peter Block – Consulting Skills, Carlson Learning DiSC Instrument, the Blessing White – Managing Personal Growth process, the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) and Triple Impact Coaching and will be completing a Lambent UK/ International Coaching Community (ICC) certification by August 2017.

Josy is Afro-Cuban and is a founding member of the Career Women’s Forum in Geneva, Switzerland, and is a founding member, President Emeritus and Executive board member of Madrinas, a virtual network for Corporate Latinas. She is a member of the Organizational Development Organization, Society for Human Resources Management and the International Coach Federation (ICF). Josy has two adult sons and a new grandson. She lives in Reston, Virginia with her husband, Richard.
