Julie Sweet is Accenture’s Group Chief Executive for North America. In this role she leads the professional services company’s business in its largest geographic market, which generated nearly $16 billion in revenues in fiscal 2016. She joined the company in 2010 as general counsel, secretary and chief compliance officer after 17 years at law firm Cravath, Swain & Moore.
A risk taker from an early age, Julie studied Mandarin in college and spent a year abroad in Taiwan and Beijing. But she took her biggest risk when, with a solid career as a law firm partner, she opted to join the new world of technology at Accenture—where she is a member of the company’s Global Management Committee.

Since assuming her current role in June 2015, Julie has demonstrated a deep commitment to creating an environment where Accenture’s people can be successful, both professionally and personally. For example, under her leadership the company significantly increased parental leave benefits in the United States and began providing employees the opportunity to work locally for one year following the birth or adoption of a child. Also under her leadership, Accenture became the first professional services firm to publish the demographics of its North America workforce and commit to annual updates. “I believe transparency creates trust,” says Julie. She is also guiding the shift in North America to a new Performance Achievement approach that focuses on real-time conversations and feedback for Accenture’s more than 50,000 employees in the geography.

Julie is a member of the Executive Committee of the Business Roundtable and chairs its Technology, Internet & Innovation Committee. She also serves on the Executive Council of TechNet and on the boards of directors of the National Center for Children and Families and the Bipartisan Policy Center. She holds a B.A. from Claremont McKenna College and a J.D. from Columbia Law School. She is based at Accenture’s office in Arlington, Virginia, and is married with two daughters.
